Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
This position is also responsible for performing work in a safe, responsible manner by following all safety rules and procedures and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and computer-related issues that arise and take appropriate steps to resolve.
What your day may look like Installs, adjusts and maintains all mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic plant equipment.
Performs general mechanical functions and repairs on plant equipment, vehicles, buildings, facilities or instruments.
Performs general skills such as welding, basic fabrication, pipefitting, HVAC, electronic scale repair, pump repair, pump seal rebuild and basic line equipment repair and rebuilding.
Helps develop preventative maintenance or work order system to track all issues that arise to ensure clear communication is provided to the plant leads and operations manager on items that need attention.
Installs new machinery and equipment.
Completes general repairs such as painting, patching walls, security hardware, etc.
Maintains inventory of related supplies.
Maintains tools and machinery in good condition.
Notifies leader of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken and of quality problems or supplies needed.
Maintains a clean work environment both inside and outside the facility by using good housekeeping habits.
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
Education and experience needed for this position Degree from a vocational or technical trade school or three years of experience in a plant maintenance position is required.
Other skills that will help you succeed Written and verbal communications skills in English.
Organizational skills.
Ability to use common tools.
Prioritizes on an hour to hour basis.
Ability to stand for long periods of time in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
May be required to pass OSHA respirator physical.
Must be able to work rotating shift as scheduled.
Ability to work on elevated equipment up to 100 feet off the ground.

The work environment for this position is that of a typical plant environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud.
In this position, you will regularly work near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock.
This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit.
You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Lab and office positions at the plant would only have occasional exposure if they must go out into the plant.
