Responsibilities:
Under general direction, install, maintain, and configure various operating systems, hardware and software
Evaluates systems specifications and installation parameters
Implements systems and software enhancements to improve the reliability and performance of IBM systems
Evaluates IBM systems software and hardware and makes recommendations for improvement or additional hardware and software
Deploys tools to manage IBM system
Documents systems related procedures
Trains operations personnel
Complete other tasks as assigned

Required
Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in
computer
Science or equivalent education in a related discipline is required. Related work experience can be substituted for educational requirement.
Job Related
Experience:
Requires three to five years systems administration or related experience
Additional Skills/Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of IBM and related systems (i.e. program design, flowcharting, debugging, operation, etc.
Comprehensive knowledge of the relationship of how the software being used relates to the hardware being used
Extensive knowledge of a distinct skill or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment
Work is somewhat complex and requires expert analytical ability
Ability to relate knowledge to and train operations personnel
Decision Making / Problem Solving:
Applies existing guidelines and procedures to make varied decisions within a department
Uses sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems
Uses some independent judgment to identify problems and recommend solutions
Resources Managed:
Provides supportive advice with direct impact on the use of IBM system resources
Impact on resources is limited to assigned operations department
Helps plan
events
that occur daily, weekly, or miscellaneous scheduled activities
