Engineer - I, II, Senior - Distribution

This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the posted levels, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.
Provide highly technical engineering services and direct the work of others for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of MidAmerican's distribution system. Responsibilities include applying prescribed methods and standard practices in performing all phases of projects and directing other engineering staff on more complex projects. Project assignments will frequently include all phases of projects including overseeing and guiding engineering staff in project management and design, problem resolution of complex engineering problems, design, engineering specifications, scheduling, project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and cost control), materials procurement and construction contracts.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Provide engineering services for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of MidAmerican's distribution system. Responsibilities include system planning, design specifications, maps and drawings, materials procurement, contract preparation, project management and project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting).
Conduct engineering studies and complex investigations; prepare oral and written reports of results and recommendations.
Provide engineering assistance to other departments; facilitate internal training classes for engineers and specialists; responsibilities may include developing presentations for senior management and professional/industry groups, authoring technical papers for publication by professional/industry organizations, chairing company committees/task groups, and participating in industry standards committees and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Keep informed of industry issues/technical trends and recommend and implement changes to benefit MidAmerican's business.
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
One to three years of engineering experience is required for the engineer II level.
For the senior engineer, five years of industry experience as a practicing engineer required, and must be a licensed PE. If no PE license then must have eight or more years as a practicing engineer.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
